From September, 27th to 28th, the municipal company Kommunalunternehmen Strukturentwicklung Landkreis Pfaffenhofen (KUS) is organising the "1st Hackathon for Crafts" in cooperation with fortiss. Interested medium-sized companies and programmers will jointly develop digital solutions for the skilled trades.
Car repair shops are already analysing data from customer vehicles and receiving automated reports on mileage and material wear. There are virtual test systems for furniture with which customers can test the product range in their own rooms before buying. In the future, drying equipment after a fire or water damage could check both the escaping air and the punctual humidity and save craftsmen unnecessary control trips.
Hackathons are a suitable format for exploring the possibilities of digitization for the trades. These are events at which useful software and hardware products are developed. With digitized products and services, not only customer can be individually fulfilled, but also workflows and processes can be made more efficient. At the region's first hackathon in Pfaffenhofen, craftsmen, programmers, founders and other smart minds will create creative solutions so that craftsmen can tackle the digital transformation.
In addition to the fortiss Center for Applied AI, other partners of the craftsman hackathon include the Digital Business Incubator brigk in the Ingolstadt region and the Competence Center Digital Crafts Koblenz.
