Yannick conjures software security for the industry.
As a researcher in the Platform Engineering field of competence, I deal with how verifiable statements can be made about software security in industrial platform ecosystems. My work aims to help developers and users compare security requirements with software configuration. To do this, I analyze different approaches and technologies to ensure effectiveness and feasibility.
I focus on software security in manufacturing, including observing how industrial software is developed and deployed. My focus is on developing models and methods to integrate the range of tools and frameworks for software security into practice. Through my work, I analyze the challenges facing the industry and look for solutions to align security requirements with software configuration.
Even as a child, I liked to develop my own games, sometimes with the first programming languages like Visual Basic. At school, I learned the basics of programming. Later, I decided to study Business Informatics, which would further deepen my skills and interests in this field. What excites me about programming is the opportunity to turn my ideas and concepts into practical applications and see how they work. It is also fascinating to observe how technology and programming languages are constantly evolving and opening up new possibilities.
I became aware of fortiss during my search for research institutes in Munich. It was particularly important to me that the institute conducts very application-oriented research and has a connection to universities and industry. fortiss met my expectations because of its close connection to practice and the academic world.
I find the working environment at fortiss very pleasant and enriching. The cooperation between researchers and colleagues in Central Services works very well and everyone has an open ear and is very supportive, especially towards newcomers like me. In addition, the work in the competence fields is very cooperative and a lot of fun.
I find it very exciting to analyze things and become an expert in them. This ambition also drives me in my job as a researcher at fortiss. For me, research represents a global community where you can communicate ideas and concepts with the whole world. I want to be part of this community and share my research results to get feedback and develop as a researcher.
My goal is to achieve application-oriented research results that can be successfully used in practice. I find it particularly exciting that the software world is increasingly characterized by collaborative platforms. In this context, the topic of software security often plays a decisive role in whether such collaboration can come about at all. Therefore, it is my vision to achieve research results that contribute to improving software security and thus create an important basis for successful collaboration in the digital world.
As a tip for applicants to fortiss, I would say that they should be open to many topics and ideas. It is important to understand that technological trends in the media and at university are not necessarily the panacea when it comes to innovation in practice. fortiss focuses on practical relevance and offers aspiring researchers a broad portfolio to develop.
